The Red Chair, Jackson Hole, was founded in early 2002 as a high-concept center of design excellence and outstanding Interior Design service to clients in Jackson Hole and the Western United States. While The Red Chair has expertise in all design disciplines, our particular emphasis is in elegant, European-influenced style and sophisticated Western contemporary and traditional design. Our Jackson Interior Designers have an extensive resumes of both residential and commercial interior design work.
A growing roster of projects in Jackson Hole, along with major projects in Texas, Northern California, Southern California and Montana have furthered the reputation of The Red Chair. Our Interior Design Studio, with one of the most comprehensive libraries in the region, features extraordinary French, English, and Italian fabrics, along with fine American textiles. Our Jackson Interior designers at The Red Chair offers an unsurpassed range of design resources, including custom furniture and high-quality manufacturers in all price ranges.
The Red Chair takes pride in setting and maintaining the highest standards of both interior design and client service. the principals John Thorkildsen, president and principal designer of The Red Chair, has an 18-year record as one of the outstanding interior designers in the Mountain West. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in design, he returned to his native Jackson Hole and, for a number of years, worked through Vande Water’s and Contract Design. In 1998, he co-founded Fish Creek Interiors, an elegant retail and design business on Jackson Hole’s West Bank, where he continued to develop a large and loyal following.
John is widely-recognized for the excellence and subtlety of his work, which has been published in major interior design magazines, and for his exceptional ability with textiles and color. Now through The Red Chair, he has realized a lifelong dream to own his own Interior Design firm, and continues to further his reputation with commissions and projects throughout the West.
